Out & About – British Tapas at The Churchill Theatre

British Tapas at the Churchill Theatre

The Churchill Theatre recently changed hands from ATG to QDOS meaning that the theatre appears to have a whole new approach to entertainment and use of their ample space. One way they are making the most of this is by opening a restaurant in the circle bar.

British TapasThe premise of the restaurant is British Tapas which is perfect for a theatre. It doesn’t require a long time to sit and eat you meal (perfect for pre-show diners pushed for time) and it makes the evening that bit more social. The menu includes both hot and cold tapas with field mushrooms, breaded wholetail scampi and rosemary and, my personal favourite, the pork chipolatas as some of the hot tapas. The cold tapas included roasted vegetable and tomato cous cous and somerset brie, tender stem broccoli and roasted red pepper quiche. There is a desert choice with you being served 3 mini cakes out of a choice of chocolate fudge, Victorian sponge cake, coffee and walnut and carrot cake.British Tapas

Apart from all of the food that I was served being absolutely delicious this also has another big plus – they use local produce. For example the delicious sausages I mentioned above are from Andrews of Bromley (a local Butchers). They also have wines from Kent, local juices and local jams and chutneys (delicious in the Sliders). Some of the produce is even for sale! This makes this dining experience and really helps appeal to the local audience.British Tapas

The prices for the dishes vary from £3.00 for the potatoes and the Cous Cous to £5.50 for the most expensive dishes. They suggest 3 dishes per person for a main meal so you are looking at between £11 – £15 for a main meal plus drink and desert. For food that is not only delicious but in a place that is going to be very convenient for you if you are catching a show this is a reasonable price.

It seems that the Churchill Theatre are full steam ahead with their dining programme including a Come Die With Me (A Murder Mystery Night), Ladies Night and Bubbles and Buble night as well as pre-show dining packages.British Tapas

Thank you to the Churchill Theatre for inviting me to their launch and also for the waiting staff on the night for being so friendly and attentive.

I look forward to eating there some more, watching it expand and finding out how the local audiences take to it.
