Aladdin at Christmas

So now the weather has turned and it’s getting darker earlier peoples thoughts have already started to turn to…..dare I mention it….Christmas!! It then got me thinking about which shows really suit the holiday season…..last year Elf was the obvious offering and this year my mind turned to Aladdin –

5 Reasons to see Aladdin this Christmas:

It’s Perfect For the Whole Family:

This is the perfect show for the whole family from the younger members to the young at heart!! The minimum recommended age for this show is 6 which is one of the youngest in the West End! It’s a great introduction for young ones into the world of theatre and will hopefully open their eyes to the joys of live performance as opposed to sat at home in front of the TV!!

If You Want A Spectacle Then This is The Perfect Show:

Disney know how to put on a spectacle! With huge sets, lavish costumes and massive production numbers. Where else could you see a flying carpet??

Who Doesn’t Like Disney:

Aladdin reminds me of when I was young!! I was 7 when the movie came out so the perfect age for this film. This takes some of the huge Disney hits from the film such as ‘A Whole New World’ and ‘Friend Like Me’ and puts them on stage! This is the perfect show for Disney fans alike – who doesn’t want to see a Disney movie come to life?

3 Words – Trevor Dion-Nicholas

AladdinDion-Nicholas plays the Genie and has had the critics eating out of his hands! He played the role on Broadway and then transferred across to the West End to open the show here. The Guardian states that he has ‘the charisma and crackle to make his personality shine to the back of the audience,’ and Time Out call him ‘staggeringly good.’ Even though Aladdin looks set to run for a while with these reviews I would do my upmost to see it with hi in this role!!

Aladdin & Christmas – A Perfect Pairing:

In my mind Christmas is the perfect time to take a trip to the theatre (any excuse), whether that’s panto or a family musical to bond or surprise tickets for a loved one!! Aladdin has an intrinsic link to British Christmas with it being a firm panto favourite. This show is the perfect balance between panto and musical! This show has good old fashion gags but adds on original music and huge production values!
