Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

So as I have been busy getting married I haven’t been to the theatre for nearly 10 days now (withdrawal symptoms much) but always on the lookout for a good reason to blog I thought I’d pick up on a nomination I received a little while ago from Sarah over at ThingsSarahloves for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award.

Essentially Sarah has set me 10 questions – I hope the answers will help you get to know me a little better! Of course I have added a little theatre focus to my answers cause I can’t help but make it all stagey!!!

1) Favorite Pizza Topping –

I love anything with lots of veg on it and maybe even a runny egg. If looking for a good pizza before seeing a West End show then you have to go to Fire and Stone in Covent garden with pizzas based on dishes from around the world! Yum!

2) If I was an animal what would I be –

Erm tough as animals aren’t allowed in the theatre!! I’d therefore have to pick an animal that eds up on stage – maybe Elle’s chiwawa (Bruiser) from Legally Blonde- it seems to spend a nice life in an expensive bag!!!

3) When it comes to shoes: heels or flats?

I am a heels girl all over although they may not be the most practical for walking round the West End of London!! For this reason Kinky Boots is a show I HAVE to see soon!!

4) What is one of your favorite childhood memories?
Jason Donovan in Joseph

Old School Joseph

As this is a theatre blog it has to be my first West End show – it was Joseph with Jason Donovan!! It must have been in 1991 at the London Palladium. I can just remember being very excited and the sheep going round as different colours! Since then I have lost count as to the number of times I have seen this show and thing it is the perfect musical to introduce children to the theatre!

  5) Your biggest make up disaster has been –
Where do I start?! Most date back to when I first started wearing makeup – from the too dark foundation to the bright blue eyeshadow!

6) What do you enjoy most about blogging?
It has to be getting to see so many shows – not only the shows I would play safe and see but also the more random or unusual shows that I may not normally see but am so glad that I do – even if it is just to expand my theatre horizons.

7) Name one city in the world you would love to visit and why?
As I’m keeping this post stagy then there are 2 cities I would choose – both of which I have been to before but before I started blogging! The first of these is of course Edinburgh in the month of August for the world famous fringe festival. I try to go up most years but this year I have been unable to go up – I plan to return next year with vengeance. The second city is of course New York – the home of Broadway. Again I have been before and it holds great memories as it was the first time I saw Hairspray but I would love to go back and check out some shows that haven’t yet made it to the UK.

8) Are you a bookworm? Do you have any favourite authors?
I love reading but I rarely get the chance to read due to work, rehearsals and blogging. I was however very excited about the news of JK Rowlings play – Harry Potter and the Cursed Child which will hit London next year. Hopefully this will be a great introduction to theatre for many Harry Potter fans. I also love the Divergent and Hunger Games triology.

9) What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
Stop thinking about it and do it – even if you don’t go self hosted straight away take the plunge and give it a try. Also don’t be afraid to network/ talk to people – thats why I love blogger meet up that the Churchill and other theatres organise – I get to see theatre and catch up with others with a similar passion.

10)  What are your plans this summer?! What will you be getting up to?
Bit of a silly question – see theatre, theatre and more theatre. My definites include (tickets sorted) an amateur production of Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens at the Bob Hope Theatre, East is East at the Churchill theatre, an amateur production of The Drowsy Chaperone, The Bald Prima Donna at Upstairs at the Gatehouse as well as hopefully as few on my hit list including American Idiot at The Arts Theatre and Bend it Like Beckeham to see who I agree with – my fellow #Ldntheatrebloggers or the big critics!

Ok so that was my answers – I’m going to nominate so other stagey bloggers so I can make my questions theatre related. The questions are –
1) What has been the best show you have ever seen and why?
2) What is your favorite theatre to visit and why?
3) What show have you found the hardest show to blog about/review?
4) What character in a play/musical are you most like?
5)If you could pick one character in a play/musical to spend the day with who would it be?
6) Name at least one other theatre reviewer or blogger that you enjoy reading their work/blog.
7) The show that you want to see but have not yet seen (for what ever reason).
8) The show you wish would get a revival and why!
9) The first show you ever saw.
10) Describe yourself using the lyrics from a musical!!!

The people I nominate are –
Rochelle – My good buddy who blogs over on Tumblr – check her out here.
Emily – A fellow Am Dram enthusiast who I see in my outings to the Churchill. She blogs here.
Kath- Again another blogger I have met at the Churchill Theatre hook ups! Check her blog out here.
