Welcome to Musical Theatre Musings, an independent UK theatre publication covering West End, fringe and amateur theatre through reviews, features and opinion-led editorial. In addition to this Sarah enjoys exploring London life and this can also be found on here.
Founded by Sarah McPartlan in 2015, Musical Theatre Musings has grown into an established platform covering more than 100 productions and theatre events annually across London and beyond. Alongside reviews, the site also explores wider theatre culture through interviews, features, opinion pieces and experiences in and around London.
With a lifelong passion for theatre and over 20 years of involvement in amateur theatre, Sarah brings both audience perspective and practical experience to her writing. She currently serves on the committee of Bromley Players and the board of the Bob Hope Theatre, and has worked extensively across performance, directing, choreography and theatre operations.
Her directing credits include Hairspray, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, We Will Rock You, Shrek, Legally Blonde, Footloose and Stiles & Drewe’s Peter Pan, alongside choreography credits including Rent. She was the recipient of the NODA Louise English Award, recognising outstanding contribution to amateur theatre by a person under 30.
Alongside reviewing, Sarah is passionate about accessibility, inclusion and championing emerging theatre voices. She has produced local Pride concerts, supported the introduction of relaxed performances at the Bob Hope Theatre.
Before launching Musical Theatre Musings, Sarah also worked at the Churchill Theatre for seven years across front of house and stage door (as well as the occasional follow spot operator) giving her a broad understanding of theatre both on and off stage.
