10. Hellfire from the Hunchback of Notre Dame

This song is sung by Frollo who is confronting his lustful feelings for Esmerelda, blaming her for his sins along with his hatred of her people. It marks a turning point in the show where it moves from Frollo’s hated of the gypsies to his own lust fulling his actions.

9. Feed Me from The Little Shop of Horrors

Feed Me comes as Audrey II demands that Seymour murder someone for him and he will make it worth his while, initially he refuses but after seeing Audrey abused he agrees.

8. Come Look at The Freaks from Side Show

Side Show tells the story of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton. The show opens with ‘Come Look At The Freaks,’ a number which not only shows Daisy and Violet as the stars of the Side Show but also introduces other attractions such as the tattoo girl, the bearded lady, the lizard man and more.

7. No Good Deed from Wicked

It wouldn’t be Halloween without a witch and what better than the wicked witch of the west, Elphaba! At this point in the show she has decided that she will have to embrace her wicked reputation as she chants her magic throughout this number.

6. Spooky Mormon Hell Dream from Book of Mormon

Spooky Mormon Hell dream comes as Elder Price abandons his companion Elder Cunningham and his ends up in a guilt ridden nightmare from years past. He is visited by people such as Jesus, Hitler and more within the dream.

5.Science Fiction Double Feature from The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Rocky Horror Show of course has a huge cult following not only on Halloween but all year round. Science Fiction Double Feature opens the show and the film as we buckle in for a trip to Frank ‘N’ Furthers castle and all the weird and wonderful goings on there.

4. Sexy from Mean Girls

Sexy from Mean Girls is probably the most upbeat song on the list but the whole song is about dressing up for Halloween so is a perfect addition!

3.Transylvania Mania from Young Frankenstein

Transylvania Mania comes at the end of Act 1 in Young Frankenstein. The creature has just gone on a violent rampage and Frederick, Igor and Inga tries to stall the villagers with this number but the monster breaks free.

2. When You’re An Adams from The Adams Family

This is another spooky opening number and a Halloween musical theatre list wouldn’t be complete without a song from the Adams Family. Throughout the song Gomez introduces his family and tells the audience exactly what it means to be an Adams including their ancestors they they have summoned from the grave. The whole show revels in death and torture and this song sets the scene perfectly.

1.Whole Being Dead Thing From Beetlejuice

Whole Being Dead Thing is Beetlejuice’s opening number and sets the tone for the rest of the show and tells the audience to embrace the gory that is to come. If a show about death isn’t good enough to top a Halloween musical theatre list then I don’t know what is!
